I bought this modern abaya from H&M, head scarf from my sis.
包密密, setting off to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
This is a MUST VISIT in UAE, even tourists from Dubai will make a day trip to Aby Dhabi just for this mosque.
It's so huge that it can be seen from the highway.
The white marble building was stunning.
Getting from the Tourist Center was quite a long way.
Guys normally don't have much problem getting, it's only female facing lots of "obstacles" lolxxx....
Women needed to be all covered with loose clothings (ie. body hugging clothes reject). All covered means all covered, reveal only the face and hands. Sometimes they close one eye, especially to ang mos. People here tends to pick on Chinese. A friend I knew wore a long dress but not long enough to cover her ankles and she was rejected lolxx.... But they did have a chance on me lolxx...
Entrance is free but need to scan in.
The marbled floor and wall are soooooooo beautiful, flawless and shiny even before getting in to the mosque.
Tolerance Path, but it's very nice with travellators, no need to tolerate anything.
Along the way were pictures of visitors, Queen Elizabeth here......
and me, heehee.....
In UAE, head scarf no need to be tuck in tightly.
I was taken by surprised by the restrictions. You cannot step on their carpet grass or walk anyway you like. There are designated area for photo taking.
There are security guards everywhere, to make sure nobody vandalize, which is a good thing.
To take photos at "undesignated" locations, you have to do it fast enough before the security guards finds you, lolxx....
There were too many people in the photo area, I was afraid my selfie stand would be kicked off, so taking photos was a big challenge.
Blown away by the marbles.
So beautiful sia......
It's amazing, how much work was needed to install the flooring.
Look at the crowd.
I realised that the floor tiles are not fixed with cement, or maybe partially adhere.
A kind soul helped me to take photos and he was an expert!!
This is the biggest carpet in the world, part of it.
These are the lightings which will light up against the building at night.
I wanted a night visit but didn't make it in the end, so I have a lot of excuse to fly back again.
They called it Lunar Lighting.
Manicured plants lolxx..
I took a lot of pics maybe kinda repeative to you guys, but I couldn't help it, it's pretty, so intricate.
At the end was a souvenir shop by default.
Attached to the Grand Mosque was Souq Al Jami.
It has a few cafes and some shops.
Due to pandemic, rental of traditional attire to enter the mosque was no longer available.
For those who needed, would need to purchase.
The rose design flooring at the lift lobby took my breath away, really really beautiful and the workmanship was just so remarkable!
My eyes were so busy, looking up and down. I love the dome.
Found this very nice cafe to rest my legs while waiting for my transport.
Some chicken wrap and lemonade.
I love the sofa and I wanted to steal those cushions, too pretty.
Next I went to Qaryat Al Beri Souk, it was so deserted that I left within 10mins.
This is Shangri-La Hotel's beach which was linked to the souk.
I went to nearby Al Wadah Mall instead.
Saw IKEA.
I was craving for something soupy.
So I ordered ramen which tasted like normal soup noodle, but not too bad.
Went to LuLu Supermarket and bought some food home for dinner.
They called their customer service counter "Customer Happiness Center", I love Abu Dhabi for all these little things.
I bought fruits also for my poor butt.
