Doing my job in the kitchen

 Date: 18/08/2020 (Tues)

Assembled mini croissants to feed 2 boys and one of their girlfriend.
The ham from SeaKing were horribly paper thin like shabu meat, had to kiap 2 pieces to make it into one normal piece.

Fried some hash browns also.

Saw on Darren's phone, why they named a pig Hawk??  IMAO.

Asian flavors are very exotic and complex to ang mos, they can be easily blown away with a simple vietnamese beef pho, HK dim sum or Singapore hokkien mee.  Those ang mos should really make their way to one of the asian country to learn asian food for a year or so, then go back to claim Masterchef champion.
But still it's really amazing how a visually impaired made it to the top, how is it even impossible, she's so inspiring.  Her hard work and determination must be beyond imagination.

Dinner: I made risotto to go with these.
You are looking at escargot (cooking time in oven 13mins);
deep fried platter of nuggets, prawn twister rolls and potato wedges (cooking time 30mins)
pan seared salmon with salad and guacamole sauce (cooking time 8mins).

It's one of the best thing gotten from SeaKing, $1 salmon.

Garlic bread bun from Seaking.  It's larger than my boobs, taste average, so wouldn't order again.

Hubby ordered prawns from a local celebrity.

So aesthetic looking.

It came with a FOC whole chicken, I wanna faint.  I turned on a Youtube and followed the video lolxx..

I successfully gotten 2 thighs, 2 wings, 2 feet, 2 breasts and the middle bone portion which I chopped into 2 good for making soup.

Dinner:
I overcooked the prawns T___T

The soup was damn good, I realized rice wine is a magic potion.
Couldn't get one of the feet into the bowl properly, I was running out of time, so just took a pic and it turned out funny.

Made risotto and a beef patty for Luis brunch.

I rolled out the patin fish, half them and deep fried them, then coat with korean sweet sauce.

Kinda save those horrible patin fish omg...

Warmed up mutton randang from SHC, quite good, will order again.

Monday a bit blue

 Date: 17/08/2020 (Mon)

Mdm Ling's salted egg lava bao so good that I was eating them 2 days in a row.

My fridge was filled with stuffs that I couldn't cook.  I have escargots, foie gras, abalones, some frozen paella and risotto that we can't be eating too regularly but they are taking up so much space -__-|||  Having a hard time to convince hubby that I need to buy some staples, really nothing to cook liao.

Taking a break is also good to catch up with house keeping.  Dinner:
Yaowarat finally opened in Tampines.  I don't understand why they so stingy with their kuay chap, but their food are all yummy.

My baby sis is coming home

 Date: 16/08/2020 (Sun)

Why COVID loves ships so much?

Sons not with us, PapaVoo and my dim sum high tea at home.  I freaking need bamboo steamers.
You are looking red bean and salted egg buns from Mdm Ling - taste ★★★★
Truffle siew mai, har gao, steam ribs with black beans from SHC - taste ★★★★★
Crab claw from SHC - taste ★★
Steam rice rolls with prawns from SeaKing - taste ★★★

Dinner, I was wanting to make tuna tartare, but on second though didn't want to risk food poisoning, so stir fried them half cook and they kinda tasted like beef.

My baby sis finally secured air tix to fly back.  The travel agent kept telling her no tix and she had to screenshot the vacancies online to show them.

Basically the people there worked differently so they needed foreign workers to wipe their ass.  They can go MIA with no apologies, there's no such thing as deadlines and they don't do proof reading.  They gotten my sis's birth date wrong on the medical report.  So it was extremely stressful on her part.  On my part, I was worried she kena COVID on the plane or at airports.  But I couldn't let her know my tears and fears.......

God, please bring back my sis safely.

It's challenging to deal with ingredients that are not so fresh...

 Date: 13 /08/2020 (Thurs)

Blogger is not loading photos again.  I'll post whatever that goes through.....

Yakitori became too dry when I tried to use a new sauce which doesn't brown.

I am getting the pasta texture right nowadays but I am still not used to the fact that (very) aggressive seasonings are needed.
This ugly plate scooped by hubby, but he was the only help I could get.  Anyway, the taste wasn't too bad with bacon, light soya and mayo.

Darren's big plate before he went to work.
You are looking at sourdough slices bought from SHC, scrambled eggs (again), beef topped for caramel onion sauce, one egg tart and half cheese tart.

The kids had Mcdonald's for dinner while I cooked fish bee hoon for myself.
Purposely didn't want too much soup.

After dinner, I started to make breakfast for the next day lolxx...

KOREAN ABALONE PORRIDGE
cos normally people have this as the first meal the day to absorb all the nutrients better.

Abalones from Sea King were really cheap, at least 2X or 3X cheaper than SHC's.  So I need to have a "backup" if this key ingredient fail.

So as expect, it did.  Upon cleaning, I found they were not as fresh, as in the mouths weren't pink.
My "backup" was to add in diced chicken.

Chicken in porridge never fails, with or without abalone.
When it's done, I put it into the thermal pot so that hubby could have it the next day morning while I was still sleep.

The porridge was really yummy.

I told him that he could heat up if he preferred pipping hot, he did, and burnt the pot.
Luckily the burnt was removed after soaking with hot water and some strong powder I bought online.

Lobster tails from Sea King, one was fresh, the other one wasn't.
I think I have to be selective on what to get from them.
I probably did thaw them enough.  They were still under cooked after boiling.  I gave them a stir fry with butter and kinda over cooked them.

Not the best but managed to get a decent lobster roll for PapaVoo and hot dogs for Luis.

Dinner, I poured pull pork into spaghetti.  Kitchen chores seemed endless.

Finally decrease of COVID cases...

 Date: 10/08/2020 (Mon)

Finally a significant decrease after so many months of struggle.

With only 1 community case, leaving the house is less scary.

Woke up to lunch as usual.  Buns from SHC for braised pork belly were too small, so I kiap them with otah.

Dinner, I steamed the brinjals, but I think boiling them is still a better way to maintain the color.

The patin rose fish from SeaKing tasted like dory fish which I hate.  It's weirdly sweet and the mashed up into a unfavorable texture in the mouth.  However the nonya sauce was really good, on par with SHC's.
It's unfair the compare the both of them I know, one is wet market economical range and the later is hotel quality that bleeds our pockets quite badly.  I still have remaining half portion which I think I probably roll them out, get them breaded, deep fried into fish fingers and tossed with my remaining korean sauce.

Yogurt baby bottles from SeaKing was really cute.
We found similar item of different brand, slightly cheaper at Sheng Shiong.

They keep importing cases but my own baby sis is making her way back...

I hadn't cut my hair since last year Nov.
Didn't do my nails, didn't go facial, I am 100% 黄脸婆 liao.
I am thinking of going back to the work force, but need to put on hold till my baby sis comes back to Singapore safely.

Lost in quiet Marina Sq.  The problem will malls now is that they shut many exits and entrances, making it very difficult and frustrating to get to our destination.  You can even find yourself stuck in the mall and not able to find the exit to leave.
All the inconvenience aside, I was glad my friends jio me out.

HDL with robot server.  I think PapaVoo will be thrilled if he was here.

Excitement for the food decreases to norm though the food was still good.
No FOC manicure, no warm towels, no more top notch service.

Tummy was happy enough to skip dinner, but I still need to cook cos the sushi grade tuna which arrived yesterday couldn't wait any longer.
Tuna was from SeaKing.  I thought it would be saltish enough since it came marinated in shouyu and pan seared with only olive oil.  I was too cautious with the fire, not enough char but the tataki was beautiful.  The fish tasted like beef lolxx...  I still have another steak of tuna but I doubt we can have it raw.

Oyakodon to feed PapaVoo and Luis.
Sibei tired.

Precious (expensive) dim sum from SHC arrived.  I hope they keep this going so that I can order these for my baby sis when she's back.

Breakfast for Darren before he went to work.
He didn't like the "spiky" greens, honey soya chicken and mashed potatoes with bacon were good, I made honey mustard sauce again, yum yum.

I gave Darren most the chicken, ate egg tarts myself.
Some colleague gave them to PapaVoo and I had no idea where they were from, but it's crazy delicious.

Continued with dinner, I deep fried karaage chicken and toss them with korean sauce, waaaaaaa.... tasted and looked great.

Heated up the braised pork belly from SHC, nice with rice.

I cooked rice with the ceramic pot, seldom use the rice cooker nowadays.
I liked the ceramic pot very much, probably gonna buy a bigger one to replace the existing stainless steel pot which is giving way liao.

I think more than 10% of the ang mo population will be gone at the end of COVID.
It's very unfortunate to see how these countries treat their people as if their lives are worthless like ants.
Everybody is now having too much to deal with, seriously 你死你的事,自保最要紧。
