A mini feast when Bernice finally visit us

Milk pudding success!

Darren's girlfriend Bernice finally visit us after more than 2 months.  So I overcooked again lolxx...

I injured myself again at the start of cooking.  This was bad and was painful for a few days.

Marinated spring chick with ang mo herbs and stuffed with onions, garlic and 1/4 lemon.

The air fryer did an awesome with 25mins.  1st attempt success!

I made a mistake by re-heating the wedges in the microwave.  The wedges wasn't heavenly any more and tasted like what you get outside, so now I know.

Salmon with dill and lemon.  1st attempt pass!

Twister prawns from freezer.

It was quite a feast lolxx... 

The risotto I cooked with water instead of daishi stock, picky Darren found out, I wanna cry.  Well, I learnt a lesson that there's no short cut, even missing out a tiny step or ingredient will affect the taste of a dish.

I kiap last night's leftover into a wholemeal baguette.

I shredded the roast chicken and stir fried with onions and teriyaki sauce.

Took a break, ta bao dinner.  Shall try to make this salted egg steam minced pork.

1st dine out after 3 months wasn't good...

Baked some pre-made danish pastry for my kids before heading out to CGH.

I shouldn't had thaw them, they became bread, but still good de.

Everything was good from the hospital, the surgical scar on my face is barely noticeable and I do not need any laser.  I am discharged and I hope I don't have to visit this place again, urrggg...

Took a bus to Expo.  Changi City Point was quiet, yay yay yay!!!

I made it to Daiso!  Bo lang de.

I CB-ed myself way before the government made it bound legally, I hadn't dine out for over 3mths.

Then the bar chor mee so so only leh, so disappointing.

I made milk pudding, taste great, hope they harden nicely.

These little jars were from IKEA.  Gotten from their cafe which they filled up with chocolate mousse.  We asked if the jar was for customers to keep, they said yes!  So every week we were there to have the chocolate mousse and the jar heeheee.....  The jar is selling at it's store of course, but same price without the chocolate mousse, so our choice was clear.

Made Luis subway sandwich with less than half the price for dinner.

PapaVoo and I had bar zhang from SHC, taste good but way too expensive to justify.

SHC hardly screws up, this time they finally did.  But more 90% of the time, they are fab, so I will still be buying from them.  Moreover, they don't sell common supermarket stuffs, so I am very in need of their products.

Bad sleeping patterns...

A short post before going to bed.

This packet occupies a lot of space in the freezer.

Inside the package with big and small mushrooms.

Add in Arabiki pork and meal was done under 15mins. 

Other than buying groceries, I do look at clothes which I never check-out since I stay at home, buy already also no chance to wear out, haiz...

Awesome Taiwanese beef noodles from SHC, save a lot of effort and time.

I am still trying to sleep earlier though I failed night after night pass mid-night.  It's so bad for my health with symptoms like yellowish pus in eyes when wake up and very dry mouth and throat.

Need crowd to die down so that I can live up lolxx...

Fathers' Day.

Can't help feeling so sad that my old father is on tube feeding, no longer able to enjoy food :(    So....... haiz..... 人生短短，must 惜福.

Normally this day is not as "hiong" as Mothers' Day.  But now every F&B is trying every means to attract customers, social media got thousand and one promotions.  Needless to say this gave thousand and one complaints with ppl who gotten their food cold and late and some doesn't even get their food.  Then complain also no use, day spoil already, refund or compensate also "buay song" liao.  People just won't learnt, I don't know why.

Ordinary Auntie's advise:

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT dine out or order food on human marked dates like Valentines, Father Mother days and other holidays.  Just go coffee shop to ta bao if you can't cook.  Why must die die celebrate on the day leh?  Can celebrate earlier or later dates right?  Why die for commercial special promotion leh?  If you want to take the risk cos it's so cheap and you think the restaurant is reputable with excellent reviews, then go ahead but do not whine when things goes wrong, cos you asked for it.

Due to Covid and the above reason, cook at home lor.  Now kitchen is my work place lolxx...  But the job not paid, only got allowances to cover my handphone bill and insurance.

Very, 幸福 very 满足.  I did aglio olio on the point this time.

With my humble basic cooking skills plus good ingredients from Singapore Home Cooks, CB, extra CB, whatever phase, my family also not afraid, we don't have any urge to dine out le.

Went Century Sq, avoiding Tamp Mall.

Went Tott walk walk, bo lang.

Saw the exact same bento tray I bought from TaoBo at double the price.

Couldn't manage to find pork lard, so make do with pork belly.

Dinner.  Got Bedok 85 Feng San feel or not lolxx...

1st time doing hokkien mee, the boys say pass!

Will be perfect if I could find pork lard, but this was legit with a good dose of daishi powder.

Pre marinated chicken and pork satay from SHC.

I put the first batch on the lower rack, not too good, the 2nd batch top rack got more char.

Still have hokkien mee noodles, I cooked it with miso.

Luis said it was amazing.

After brunch we went IKEA. 

Entering no prob but inside was very crowded, worst than CNY.

I just grabbed what I need and leave the place ASAP.  Maybe have to wait till July for the crowd to die down.  I realize I need ppl to die down so that I can live up waahaahaaa...

I gotten a 6pax serving set, I thought was black, turned out to be dark grey which was better!  Also side dish holders and 2 packs of ziplocks.  Luckily Luis was with me to carry back for me, it's so heavy.  Looking forward to use the new serving set on Fri.

Give myself a break ta bao dinner from Ah Lock Kitchen.

PapaVoo ate their burger.

Like their MJK especially the creaming peanut filling.

The crowd is normal, I am not...

PapaVoo decided to drive Luis and me to the Heart Centre.  NS required him to do a check-up.

So I made them burgers better than fast food.  I'll puke if I ate, so just drank milo.

Wait at the 8th floor then wait again at the 5th floor.

We slowly took MRT back, then went ta bao lunch at Century Sq.

The soya chicken was quite a disappointment, it's dry.  First and last buy.

Ta bao dinner also, not able to clean the rest of the house if I spend too much time cooking.

I wonder will this give me the korean kind of glow I want.  Though most ppl prefers matt look, I actually think it's ugly, cos it looks so dead like corpse makeup. 

KIV for the time being ba, now I seldom go out also.  Even if I do, masked up, nobody see.

A stress free dinner with familiar ingredients.

Forgotten the "skin down first" rule while pan frying the fish fillet, it curled up, but still yummy with sweet sour sauce.

 I really don't understand why people are so desperate to go out.  Maybe the crowd is normal, I am not.

After the election, another round of CB maybe?  So the CB switch on and off, on and off, never ending lor.  This is what the normal crowd wants.  It's very unfair to me and unfair to others who wants to get out of this situation asap.

First time making laksa.  And hey it's actually easy with pre-mixed sauce.

Will do again, heehee...

 As long as it's from Angliss, sure nice de.

I ever pan seared steaks bought from supermarkets and failed all the time as the meat became very very tough no matter I do medium or well done.  I always thought it's my lousy cooking skill, now I know supermarkets sells lousy meat.

250g Striploin from Angliss was only $8, so juicy and tender.  Of course it's not buttery like wagyu, but this is going to be a staple liao, so good, muaks.

Envies Sucrees came, I was so excited that my eyes welled.

Fathers' Day became Mothers' Day cos I ate more than him lolxx...

Every piece is a gem, sia, I don't care how fat I am going to be liao.

More food from my kitchen, but never boring

2.30pm breakfast.  Had oatmeal with strawberry milk, guilt free yummy.

Preparing for dinner.  My first time buying raw mini octopus.

I still remembered the most delicious octopus I ever eaten was at Greece.

See look for recipes online, decided to par-boil with red wine.....

then marinate with sambal.

Expensive yakiniku beef.

Very satisfying...

The sambal octupus gave out so much fume that we were coughing and laughing at the same time.

I had moved the dinning table near the door though moving it to the corridor would be the best.

Awesome beef; nice octopus; toriyaki chicken was great with udon soup to balance up with the grills.

Funny but a bit ugly to be worn, haahaa....

Darren gone to work, Luis and I had ham egg cheese with broiche buns.

Everybody raved about the buns but I find it ok only.  Would very much preferred the "crystal buns" we bought with the burger set previously.

My first time, didn't know deer meat is called venison.

Didn't expect it to be dark maroon color, I thought it would look like pork since it tasted like pork.

Last time ordered deer meat from zhi char, I think they give us pork instead.

Did a black pepper venison.  Too much black pepper sauce but it's freaking delicious.

Venison tasted like a cross breed of beef and pork, so I am almost sure that those zhi char had cheated us with pork lolxx....

Dinner.  Did same old potato stew cos kiddo loves it.

Mala wings from FarmPride, air fried 8mins straight from the freezer.

Not bad de, will buy again.

Orh lua, another awesome purchase from SHC. 

Big fat juicy oysters omg.  My first time cooking this, it tasted as good as outside but less oily.

Added ham into cabbage soup, the soup became very flavorful while the ham became tasteless.

Am re-watching 甄嬛传, still finds it enjoyable.
