Day trip to JB

19/10/2024

JB day trip with PapaVoo's friends, total 7 of us, hired a mini bus to drive us in and out.  Leaving house at 6.40am was the only complain.

First stop for brunch at The Toast, but I don't know which outlet this was.

Food was nice, but obviously catered to Singaporeans, didn't taste like Malaysian food at all.
Dried mee siam with otah.

I had wobbly eggs on toast with curry.

Next stop Aeon Mall Tebrau.

Found HaiDiLao, with a wall record of world wide outlets.
So we had covered the one and only HDL in UAE.  Made me want to "conquer" HDL in our coming Hanoi trip.

See look Labubu.

Amazing sand art for Deepavali.

Bought movie tix cos it's a bad ideal to shop from 11am to 5pm.  There were only 2 expensive massage spas in the mall, so we gave it a miss.  Wanted to do mini korean facial but was full.
So we were all good and went in for a 1.15pm show.

Car was so affordable, just across the border.  It's almost as long as you were working, you could get a car.  That said, but I wasn't sure of the job opportunities and salary market rate in Malaysia.

Dinner at Mount Austin 新煌亭.  This was my recommendation, and it didn't disappoint.

Charcoal tofu, crispy outside, super duper soft inside.

Salted egg lotus root was probably the favourite dish for everybody, it was wiped out in less than a min.
Surprisingly refreshing yet flavourful, right on the point without being over powering.

Weird sweet sour pork on ice.  The dish would taste the same without ice, why the ice, I didn't understand.

Signature seafood porridge, the soup base very power.

菜圃 fish.

Prawn fritters.

Ginger chicken, very tender and yummy.

This 虾枣 was the only dish which was so so only but still tasty.

Some jelly dessert.

After dinner, was going back time.  The travel and going through custom was relatively easy as we were very busy talking and laughing.
