Getting better and better as a home cook

 Date: 11/09/2020 (Fri)

Both ankles in pain, whole trotter sore after a trip to the Zoo lolxx...  But the sore and pain is not going to stop me from having more fun.

Even standing was difficult so I had to rest for a day, literally on bed or on sofa.

Had dinner outside then went for a foot massage at Blk 800+ neighborhood.
Chicken rice so yummy, I doubt I can replicate.  The foot massage relieve the ache quite a bit, don't have to lay so much on bed liao.

Cos little Ber (Darren's gf) came for dinner.
I made viet pork chops, marinated with lemon grass, and weird enough, condense milk.  Iberico pork steaks from Angliss were so awesome, no porky smell.

The oven didn't char them enough but I was afraid prolong time would dry them out, so I torched them a bit.
It was freaking yummy.  Flavorful and very juicy, something which may not be possible with indonesian pork.  Iberico pork is naturally more tender in texture in comparison.

Did steam fish in thai sauce again.  It tasted even better when it's kept warm.
This 800g seabass was only $10.50 from SHC.

Will not order this outside, cos it's easily made on the point.

You are looking at black pepper spaghetti with $8 NZ striploin from Angliss.

Dinner was great with escargot for side dish.

When was your last visit to the zoo?

 Date: 10/09/2020 (Thurs)

So I made the whole clan breakfast while they paid for my tix ✌

Bro-in-law had to leave half way to fix his car.  Last night a tyre from a toll truck went loose and flew to his car.  Luckily it hit the car plate, if it hit the wind screen, things would be disastrous.

I didn't take my camera along, just wanted to really enjoy and spend time with my sistas and adorable niece and nephew.  It's challenging to wear face mask all the way, I was grasping for breath at times.

So here are some random pics taken with handphone:

We were debuting about whether hippos are dangerous, as in they attack humans?

Orange juice $2 outside, $3 in Zoo, but they kids wanted.

It's not in any enclosure, not sure what it was and what it was doing lolxx...  Looked like some flying rat or fox.

All zebra crossings should look like this!

Lots of fond memories, remember Ah Meng used to live here?

The children made us happy with their smiles and innocent reactions.

So cute, why so cute...

The Zoo actually craved numbers on the shell, not obvious in this pic but it was very clear when we were there.

Laughed and cried for not able to fit into the kiddie mobile.

It rained, we sheltered with the horses and ponies.

It's a happy family.

And there's a grumpy one looking over in a chill sitting posture.

It crossed our path.

Close encounter with fruit bats.
They were just about a meter away from us.  They were eating, one pee and some flying around above our heads.

Watching the bats alone was already worth the tix.  This was the most unforgettable section in the zoo.

This was so beautiful, the feathers were flawless and it's beak was like a perfect painting.

He didn't want to entertain us.

One of the most amazing animal in the world.

We had lunch at Ah Meng's Cafe.
You are looking at chee chiong fun with chicken cutlet in laksa sauce (but tasted like curry sauce).

Moving over to River Safari with wild monitor lizards swimming around.

We made a lot of noise in the train ride lolxx...
Due to COVID, one family per train.  Even a couple took up a train by themselves.

Flamingoes that "scolded" us for being noisy.  Cos after we left, they were quiet.

Monkeys were close with zoo keeper.

Friendly little fellow.

Dinner we drove to PapaVoo's office.  His office place got a big coffee shop.

We ordered zhi char and stupidly had to sit 2 tables with more than 5 of us, when we actually rolled together at home.  So we had to do a bit of darting between 2 tables.

Reached home exhausted, but eyes were still active.
I finally ordered uni, cos it's affordable.  Of everything and all things, this went very wrong and was refunded to me, haiz....  will tell you all more about it in coming post.

Very busy cooking and going out

 Date: 08/09/2020 (Tues)

Breakfast, made egg prata with pull pork with savory sauce, it's was as good as curry.

Was in a mood to declutter. I took out everything from the top shelf of the chiller.
I put everything I could into containers and transferred those half filled items into smaller containers.

Not totally satisfied but this was the best at the moment.

There were left over pull pork from breakfast which I topped them over green veg.
I cooked the last batch of lousy prawns with sambal.  I had soaked them with baking soda but it didn't help much.  The batang fish steak looked very normal here but it was the best we had ever eaten.  It's juicy with no fishy smell or taste at all.  I can't believe how the hell we had been buying and eating those batang fish from supermarkets for long, omg, yucks!!  SHC vai Apollo Center totally win my heart.

Steam tofu with japanese fish cake and I am so pleased with the plating lolxx...

Have I share this before?  Air fry 100 degrees eggs from fridge for 11mins, and it's PERFECTLY half boiled.

Made this for Luis for breakfast, I ate lesser.

PapaVoo took a birthday leave.  He had been low key requesting for a park stroll, so I thought this was the best day.
Thomson Nature Park was really small.  We were done with the big loop within 10mins and didn't continue with the small loop which there were more to see.

We drove to Winsor Nature Park to continue to get more exercise.

We spotted a few baby wild boars and PapaVoo was really scared lolxx...
They were babies and were so cute, PapaVoo said the mother was probably nearby and would charge at me -___-|||

We were targeting the Tree Top Walk but decided to give up as the sky gotten darker and darker.
He was about to make a u-turn when a few monkeys, about 6 of them were across our path.  That u-turn was a big one, no joke sia.  So I insisted to wait till they moved away, which they did.  This PapaVoo hor, gets panic more and more easily, problem with aging...

We didn't bother to look for food around the area and drove back to Tampines.
We had 888 Mookata, it was $26 for this 2pax set meal.

No complains for the price, but missing Spicy Thai Thai's mookata badly.  Double the price though.

Back home, I made egg mayo sandwich for 9pax.
Sibei tired, but I was sure proud of my work.

Herbal foot soak with PapaVoo before sleep.
